SYJ Organization’s Menstrual Hygiene Drive in Gowlidoddy

Mother’s Day is often marked by flowers, gifts, and sweet messages—but at SYJ Organization, we chose to celebrate it with something even more meaningful: dignity, health, and empowerment for women.

On May 12, 2025, in honor of Mother’s Day, SYJ Organization conducted a Sanitary Napkin Distribution Campaign in the Gowlidoddy slum area of Hyderabad. The aim was simple yet powerful—to ensure that women in underserved communities have access to basic menstrual hygiene products that are essential for their health and confidence.

Why Menstrual Hygiene?

Menstrual hygiene is still a neglected issue in many marginalized communities. Due to lack of access, awareness, and affordability, countless women and girls continue to face health risks, discomfort, and even shame during their monthly cycle. At SYJ, we believe that no woman should have to compromise her dignity or health due to her period.

The Campaign

Our team distributed free sanitary napkin kits to women and adolescent girls across the Gowlidoddy slum area. Each kit was packed with care and contained enough supplies to support a healthy menstrual cycle. Volunteers also conducted brief awareness sessions on menstrual hygiene practices, disposal methods, and the importance of breaking taboos surrounding periods.

The smiles, gratitude, and honest conversations we witnessed reaffirmed our belief that small actions can spark big changes.

A Salute to All Mothers

By holding this campaign on Mother’s Day, we wanted to honor every woman—not just as a mother, but as a nurturer, protector, and powerhouse. Access to hygiene is not just a health issue; it’s a human right. And our mothers, sisters, and daughters deserve nothing less.

What’s Next?

This is just one of many steps in our ongoing commitment to women’s health and empowerment. We will continue organizing similar hygiene drives, educational workshops, and outreach initiatives in urban slums and rural areas where help is needed most.

Thank you to our supporters, volunteers, and community partners for making this campaign possible. Together, we can build a future where every woman lives with pride, health, and equality.
